Meet the Owner, Brittany Harpole (Neuro-Pilates Specialist)
My education in movement started when I was 5 years old taking my first ballet class. Ever since then I have lived and breathed exercise through functional movement. I went on to dance for 17 more years and my training in ballet showed me how to connect deeper into my body and understand the importance of form and the complexity of the body. When looking to improve my strength while staying lean and flexible I was introduced to Pilates. I began to incorporate Pilates into my daily routine and quickly saw the difference it made on my dancing and kept me from injuries that so many of my piers were facing. My dancing career took me to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, then Richmond, Virginia and on back to Austin, Texas where I decided to get my Power Pilates mat and Peak Pilates Comprehensive certification.
Teaching since 2007 I have seem the changes and impact it has made on my clients' lives. I feel like it's the "magic" exercise. No matter where you are in life, Pilates can meet you there. I keep growing and learning every year from each client that I have had the pleasure to spend time with. My most favorite success stories come from people who walk through my door that have been battling with exercise due to injuries or chronic pain and I can put movement back in their life. Movement can heal our bodies and clear our heads. I believe in practicing what you preach and I try to live and active and healthy lifestyle.
In 2012 I had my first baby and got to experience exercise pre and post natal. It made a huge difference on how I felt and getting back into shape after baby. Going through an Exercise Through Pregnancy certification and 2 pregnancies myself, I specialize in pre and post natal Pilates that is safe and effective for my clients expecting a new addition to the family .I also LOVE a challenge. I look forward to meeting with new clients and creating a plan their body needs
Opening Pilates 512 was a dream of mine to spread the word of Pilates after it had made such a big impact on my life and the people I have worked with through the years. I hope I can make the world a healthier place, where we just don't live longer, but live and feel better!
Meet our Instructors:
Michael McMains, Pilates Instructor & Licensed Massage Therapist MT046004
I have always been fascinated by the human body. I love that the human body can heal so many of the challenges and injuries we face from life through consistent correct movement and massage therapy. I have loved all the Anatomy and Physiology courses I have taken through the years and I am passionate about continuing education. My career as a Massage Therapist has led me to opportunities to pursue specialties in Pre-natal, Sports and Pain Management.
I was first introduced to Pilates in 2005 as a student at Ballet Austin. In 2008, after having a motorcycle accident that led to several injuries including a broken hip, Pilates became a leading role in my rehabilitation. I was hooked and have continued my Pilates practice ever since. In 2013, I had a C-section with my son and I believe that Pilates was the key to my recovery then too. I came to Pilates 512 in 2017 as a student. I love that Pilates can meet you wherever you are in your fitness journey. In 2020, I had the opportunity to complete a Comprehensive Pilates Training through Polestar Pilates. I am already pursuing continuing education through attending the Align Pilates Summit in May 2022, taking design sequencing classes as well as Pre and Post-Natal Pilates training. I enjoy working with Pilates clients one on one getting to know each client and how I can best help them achieve their goals. I also love the energy of Group Reformer Classes and the community that is built in the studio.
When I am not at the Pilates studio, I am continuing my own Pilates practice for personal fitness. I enjoy walking anad trying new activities such as rock climbing and Ninja Warrior with my son. I love rowing on Lake Austin and going out on our boat with my husband and son to enjoy knee boarding, wake boarding, tubing and relaxing! Friday night is family movie night at our house and Sundays we attend Radiant Church in Round Rock.
Shelby Shields, Pilates Instructor
I found Pilates in 2018 when a friend invited me to a group reformer class at Pilates 512. My youngest daughter had just turned one and I was looking for a fitness routine that would inspire me. Pilates not only helped me get back in shape, it helped improve my overall health, general awareness, strength, and mobility. It was a perfect fit. I love that Pilates is truly for EVERY-body and ANY stay of life.
In 2022, I completed the Polestar Pilates Mat and Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training Program. I am excited to continue my education to grow my own personal practice as well as my clients’. Helping clients find success and “AH-HA” moments is what I love most about teaching.
When I am not in the studio, I enjoy time with friends, tacos, a nice glass of wine and traveling and spending time with my husband and our two girls!
